I am appalled.
Above are two photos of super models Karolina Kurkova, Alessandra Ambrosio, and other Victoria’s Secret Angels. In the first photo, we see the models in their nature, human-like state. In the second, we see excessively edited, airbrushed, and retouched goddesses. Both Ambrosio and Kurkova look about 15 pounds lighter and flawlessly toned in the latter photo.
It’s disgusting that both of these women are naturally beautiful and slender as they are. The fact that the head honchos at Victoria’s Secret feel the need to create such fantastical images of already wondrous women is sick and disturbing. It says that the these women’s unedited selves—their true selves—are not good enough.
So the editing gurus sit down at their computer with a cup of coffee and Photoshop away, giving Ambrosio the legs of a 12-year-old boy and Kurkova washboard abs.
Question: If the bodies of super models are not up to par with delusional fantasy, where does that leave “ordinary” women on the scale of acceptance?
